ATLANTA (AP) - Police say a man hit an Atlanta officer with his vehicle and left the scene.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the officer saw a silver Volkswagen driven by 44-year-old David Hamblen back into a parked pickup truck around 3 a.m. Saturday. Police say Hamblen then hit the officer as he tried to drive away.
The officer fell to the ground. He complained of minor soreness when paramedics examined him at the scene but didn't go to the hospital.
A Georgia State Patrol officer stopped Hamblen's vehicle a couple miles from the scene of the accident.
Hamblen who faces charges of DUI, aggravated assault and obstruction, was being held in the Fulton County jail. It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.
