ATLANTA (WTXL) - The Georgia state senator arrested in Tuesday's Count Every Vote rally inside the state capitol in Atlanta spoke out Wednesday.

Nikema Williams was arrested for allegedly failing to disperse along with 14 others participating in the protest.

"Never did I imagine that my day would end up with me being in jail," she said.

"During special session as a sitting member of the legislature I did not leave the capital and so I was taken out in handcuffs and jailed because I stood with my constituents to voice their concerns and make sure that every vote is counted."

Those arrested were charged with misdemeanors.
