ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Residents of Georgia started a petition calling for stricter laws to protect victims of domestic violence.
The petition is in response to the killing of Amanda Cloaninger-Colley. She is from Folkston, Georgia and graduated from Valdosta State University.
According to the petition to the Georgia State House, Cloaninger-Colley was shot and killed by her estranged husband, who appeared in court just hours before the killings on Thursday at the family's St. Augustine home.
The petition asks for stricter enforcement of restraining orders and physical protection for victims of domestic violence. Her estranged husband, James Colley Jr. was ordered to turn in his firearms and stay away from her at that hearing on Thursday.
Her friend that was visiting was also killed.
The petition has more than 2500 signatures. To read more on this case click HERE.
