Man arrested after trying to throw drugs, cellphones over prison fence

WAYCROSS, Ga. (WTXL) — A man has been arrested by the Georgia Department of Corrections after he attempted to throw a large amount of contraband, to include drugs, cellphones and tools, over a prison fence at a nearby state prison.

The Georgia Department of Corrections say a K-9 unit intercepted the contraband at Ware State Prison in Waycross, Ga. Tuesday.

Some of the items recovered were 43g of marijuana, 63g of meth, 102g of ecstasy, 3071g of tobacco, 8 saw blades, 27 cell phones, 16 phone batteries, 24 phone charges, 3 SIM card tools, 1 pair of pliers, 1 wrench, 1 roll of tape, 1 lighter, 33 packs of rolling papers, 2 epoxy products, 2 packs of cigarillos and various clothing items.

Officials say the suspect was arrested after the interception.
