BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - Authorities in two states are investigating a Georgia man, saying he extorted and threatened a 13-year-old Florida girl for provocative photos.
Polk County Sheriff's officials say 31-year-old Steven Wayne Reid of Acworth, Georgia, is being held in jail in Bartow County, Georgia.
Officials say Reid contacted the Florida eighth grader on Nov. 5 using the mobile messaging system "KIK." A news release said Reid claimed to be another girl who made online threats and demanded the victim send her provocative photos.
According to an affidavit, Reid later told the girl he was a man and said if she didn't send him the photos, he would post embarrassing and untrue things about her online.
