MILLER COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - A Southwest Georgia hospital's new programs and expansion are gaining national attention.
The CEO of Miller County Hospital says while other rural hospitals may be on the verge of closing, they've been expanding.
This month they will open a long-term patient facility, or nursing home, inside the hospital. It will hold 24 beds with plans to hold more.
The nursing home will house the hospital's long-term chronic ventilator maintenance program to support dialysis patients.
Hospital leaders say this will be one of the largest programs for a hospital in the country and the only one in Georgia.
