ATLANTA (AP) - Brian Kemp's spokesman says the Georgia secretary of state has hired Deloitte to audit his office's technology operations after personal information for 6 million voters was released to news media and political parties.

David Dove says reserve funds from the office will pay the $395,000 cost.

Kemp has said his office recovered 12 discs that contained all registered voters' Social Security and drivers' license numbers and dates of birth. Kemp said a technology employee didn't follow department rules and was fired.

Dove says Kemp's office is still considering credit monitoring services, which have not been offered.

The League of Women Voters of Georgia this week asked Gov. Nathan Deal to order an independent investigation. Dove says Deloitte has employees with more experience in data security than state auditors.
