THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Brian Kemp, a Georgia gubernatorial candidate, is responding to the attention over his campaign ads.
In one, Kemp is seen holding a gun across his lap while talking to a young man.
This ad has received backlash from viewers who think the gun is pointed in the teen's direction.
In a second ad, Kemp talks about deporting illegal criminals and sending them back home, which some say is hateful.
Kemp, however, tells us that these ads were meant to be light-hearted.
"We're trying to use humor and I guess political satire, if you will, to draw attention to our issues that are our there. Make no mistake, those issues are real when you think about cutting government regulations, making Georgia number one in small business," said Kemp.
Kemp also believes the Georgia government should have a spending cap for tax reform and should deport criminal illegal aliens.
