BRUNSWICK, Ga, (WTXL) - Echols and Lowndes are among four more Georgia counties approved for federal assistance because of Hurricane Irma damage.

Those two counties, along with Effingham and Tift, are now eligible to receive federal assistance to help cover expenses for permanent work under the Public Assistance program.

The program helps with costs to repair or replace infrastructure damaged as a result of Hurricane Irma, according to state and federal officials.

President Donald Trump previously approved Public Assistance funding for emergency work, including debris removal and emergency protective measures, in all 159 Georgia counties on September 15.

He approved the latest work Wednesday.
