ATLANTA (AP) - Federal prosecutors say three former corrections officials have been sentenced for beating an inmate and conspiring to cover it up.
Prosecutors say former Macon State Prison officers Ronald Lach and Delton Rushin and former Sgt. Christopher Hall were sentenced Thursday in the 2010 beating of an inmate and an attempted cover up.
Authorities have said officers beat an inmate in retaliation for prior misconduct and conspired to write false reports about it.
Prosecutors say Hall was sentenced to 72 months for conspiracy to obstruct justice. Lach was sentenced to 90 months for his involvement in the beating, conspiring to cover it up and writing a false report. Rushin was sentenced to 60 months for conspiring to obstruct justice and other offenses.
Eight former officers have been convicted in the case.
