GEORGIA (WTXL) - Sex trafficking is a serious and present issue, and to combat it, the Georgia branch of the FBI has announced that it has joined international efforts to attack sex trafficking head on.
239 arrests have been made, and 82 children have been rescued from sex trade operations over the course of three days in what the FBI is calling Operation Cross Country.
In Georgia, the Atlanta Exploitation Task Force arrested 15 sex traffickers, arrested 54 adult prostitutes, confiscated seven guns, and rescued one juvenile victim in Lake City.
For the first time ever, the initiative, which has been happening for ten years now, has expanded beyond the borders of the United States, into the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Canada.
