VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A new brewery and the first ever in Valdosta, Georgia Beer Company, is just two days away from cutting the ribbon of the downtown business.
Two Valdosta State University grads are bringing their love for cold, locally made brew to the community in an area the city is hoping to see more businesses open their doors.
In last week's soft opening, the family friendly place was filled in three hours.
Christ Jones, one of the founders, says they're thrilled to be trailblazers bringing something new to downtown but the process wasn't easy.
"Being the first brewery in Valdosta meant that some laws had to be tweaked a little bit, some new license categories had to be created," said Jones. "But the city of Valdosta has been extremely helpful in that process and we're really excited about being Georgia's southern most brewery."
Georgia Beer Company has already even sent out their first batch into the retail market.
The brewery is having their official grand opening Monday, Feb. 4 starting out the week and the month on a cold, but enjoyable note.
