VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A Georgia agency on aging says seniors should fight the fright of getting older by using area resources that allow them to maintain their independence.

The Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging will present the resources at a free Halloween Hotdog Luncheon on Monday, Oct. 30, at noon at the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority Senior Center. The center is at 1360 East Park Ave.

The event, to be held the day before Halloween, is open to residents ages 50 and older.

Agency representatives will provide information to seniors about the services the Area Agency on Aging provides, including information about the Assisted Technology Lab coming soon to Valdosta and the state- and federally-funded Georgia Cares program.

“We want our people to know about the Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging and how these programs benefit aging adults in Valdosta and the surrounding county," said Valdosta Mayor John Gayle. "The agency provides valuable resources, as well as information about volunteer opportunities for our senior adults and other ways to find satisfaction in life in the golden years.”

For more information, call Lou McClendon at 229-834-2401 or at the Senior Center at 229-259-5470.
