PUNTA GORDA, FL (WWSB) - Friday, May 18th is the official start to gator hunting season here in South West Florida.
Gator Raiderz in Punta Gorda says the biggest reason for hunting gators is to maintain and balance the ecosystem.
Anyone can apply for a hunting permit through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The FWC says this is the 30th year of regulated hunting and shows no signs of slowing down.
