TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Weekend road work could now being impacting your weekday commute.
The City's Gas Utility was working at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Monroe Street to upgrade a gas main. That's where crews found a gas line that must be replaced.
According to the City of Tallahassee, eastbound Orange Avenue between Monroe Street and Meridian Street is closed. Eastbound traffic is being detoured at the Orange Avenue / Monroe Street intersection. This also means that traffic on Monroe Street is not able to go east on Orange Avenue (no right turn from northbound or left turn from southbound). In addition, northbound traffic on Monroe Street is reduced to one lane at the intersection, the left turn lane. Traffic is permitted to go either left or straight from that lane while this traffic pattern is in place.
Work is expected to last through Wednesday.
You're encouraged to avoid the area if possible, or be prepared for heavy traffic and delays especially during peak driving times.
