GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gadsden County is honoring those who fought for our freedom.

A new Veteran's Memorial Monument is being unveiled at the Gadsden County Courthouse.

The monument will serve as the county's only veteran monument that recognizes all branches of the military on the Gadsden County Courthouse Square.

The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners is kicking off a ceremony to unveil the new Veterans Memorial Monument. The event is free and open to the public.

City leaders hope the monument will properly honor those who served in the United States Military.

"Today is the beginning of the day that the Gadsden County Veterans will know that the services they made is truly appreciated in this county," said Anthony Viegbesie, County Commissioner of District 2.

The area surrounding the new monument is accented with landscaping and places for people to sit and relax.
