GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office is inviting the public to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 28.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, the sheriff's office - located at 339 East Jefferson St. in Quincy - will accept expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical drugs and over-the-counter medications.

Unused drugs are a potential source of supply for illegal consumption and pose an unacceptable risk to public health and safety, the office said in a news release.

The effort is part of a cooperative one with the Drug Enforcement Administration to focus national attention on pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.
