GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Gadsden County School Board is set to discuss plans tonight to reconfigure the district after wrapping up its series of community meetings.
Superintendent Roger Milton has shared his proposal with parents at seven meetings held in schools county-wide. He has said repeatedly that nothing has been decided and the community's input is necessary to move forward on anything.
While the community meetings are now complete, talks about reconfiguration are far from over.
And Monday night, the Gadsden County School Board is ready to review all the feedback and start figuring out what to do.
We've been there from the start, as residents in Gretna, Quincy and Chattahoochee passionately opposed plans to potentially close or merge schools in those communities.
But despite the resistance, some agreed that change is needed, suggesting other options the board should consider.
There's no indication the board will vote on anything tonight. Board members have even said they don't even have to act on the proposal but now that the community has had its say, it's time to see what the future holds for the district.
