GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gadsden County Officials are calling all senior citizens for an oral history project.
WTXL ABC's Jada WIlliams joins us live this Wednesday morning with the details surrounding what they're looking for.
The project is a way to tell the story of Gadsden county through the words of Gadsden county residents.
The county is partnering with the Florida Department of State to produce a documentary through the oral history project.
While the focus of the project is on the life black people lived in early 20th century Gadsden, all walks of life are asked to speak.
Those working on the project are travelling throughout all of Gadsden County to hear stories.
"If we don't capture this history, then it'll disappear and if nobodies writing it down in no way shape or form, then it'll be lost forever," said Jon D. Brown of the Oral History Project. "So the state and Gadsden COunty are working together to capture this information to make sure we can get this from our elders while they're still here with us."
If you or someone you know would like to participate, they will be conducting interviews for the rest of the year.
