GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gadsden County commissioners are hosting a community meeting, discussing future plans of the old Stevens School site.

Before it burned down this past march, the Williams Stevens School was an icon in Quincy. The school was built in the 1920's and was recently the home of a food pantry for the community.

The school stood for nearly a century, but back in late march, the building went up in flames overnight, destroying the Gadsden County landmark in just six hours.

At that time, officials said they wanted to restore the old school to its former glory. That's just one of the options county leaders and community members will discuss Monday night.

Everyone from the public is invited to attend the meeting at the Campbell Kelly Community Center on Cooper Street at 6 p.m. and give their input.

We'll have much more on the meeting and what the future holds for this lost local landmark tonight in your news at 11.
