(WTXL) - Gadsden High teacher Adam Shawn Hurdle has been arrested on charges of assault and sexual assault of a child.
The charges stem from an incident not affiliated with his role as a school teacher. He was in his first year teaching at Gadsden High.
Hurdle, 33, was booked into the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office jail on Aug. 16, 2017, records show. His bond was set at $150,000.
He is charged with assault with intent to commit a felony and with sexual battery by a person 18 years of age or older on a victim under 12 years of age.
Hurdle is accused of sexually assaulting the victim two years ago in Havana when she was 11. He allegedly admitted his crimes to both his wife and the mother of the child, said a Gadsden County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, Sgt. Angela Hightower.
The Tallahassee Police Department started the investigation but passed it along to the Gadsden Sheriff's Office because they realized the original incident happened in Havana.
The family has since moved from Havana.
Hurdle has two prior child abuse charges going back to 2010 in Leon County.
