GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - With the threat for high winds and heavy rain in Gadsden County from Alberto, leaders in emergency management and first responders had a conference call with Florida Emergency Management Sunday morning.

The goal was to make sure all North Florida counties have resources in place and are prepared for the worse case scenario.

Leaders told us that deputies and first responders are on standby until the storm is out of our area.

"There could be short periods of power outage. So,if you're oxygen dependent on electricity, make sure you let your local emergency management know," said Major Shawn Wood. "Make sure if you have any special needs, you let us know."

Major Shawn Wood says crews will start working on any power outages or blocked roads as soon as conditions are safe.

He says, this hurricane season, the county wants to have better communications during severe weather, making sure citizens and officials all have the same information.
