GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gadsden County commissioners are already looking at next years finances.
The county held its first workshop, where the commission discussed ways to balance the budget for the next fiscal year.
The county is looking at a significant drop in its general fund for Fiscal Years 2019 and 2020, which means it will have to tap into its reserve fund.
To add revenue, the county could consider new taxes on gas and fuel, which would generate around $12 million.
Commission Chair Brenda Holt said the county needs more staff in housing, planning and inspection to keep things running.
She said the county needs to continue to look for ways to improve the quality of life for its residents.
