GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. -- Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young is beginning the stretch towards more than a decade as the county's first African-American sheriff.
Sheriff Young was sworn into his third term in office on Friday, January 4. He was elected to his first year in office in 2004, and has been in office for eight years.
During his terms, Sheriff Young has been committed to reopening and solving several of the county's cold cases.
The ceremony took place before Gadsden County Judge Kathy Garner. Coincidentally, Garner is also history-maker in the predominately African-American county. She's first black person (and black woman) elected as county judge.
