GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - In Gadsden County, commissioners decide to go back to the drawing board while discussing upgrades needed for the radio communication system.
Williams Communications Inc., and Mobile Communications Inc. have offered their services, but Williams has filed a formal protest against the board's selection of the higher priced vendor.
Commissioners voted not to move forward with either company.
The current radio system is nearly 30 years old.
The board of county commissioners is looking at a $1.3 million overhaul, replacing its outdated analog system with a digital one. The goal is to have public works, EMS and fire crews communicate with each other at all times and with local law enforcement.
