GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)--Gadsden County commissioners are holding a public hearing to talk about the possible extension of the six-cent local option fuel tax.
Currently, the county levies all six cents of the one to six cent gas tax, but that is scheduled to expire on August 31 of this year.
If the extension is granted, it would continue through December 2044.
The proceeds are distributed to the Chattahoochee, the towns of Greensboro, Gretna, and Havana, and Midway.
The public hearing on the tax started at 6:00 p.m. at the Gadsden County governmental complex on East Jefferson Street in Quincy.
