ATLANTA (AP)-- The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has announced Elaine Snow, chief of the City of Rome Police Department, has been named vice chair of the agency's board.

Snow is filling a board position that was left vacant by Avery Niles after Gov. Nathan Deal named him as Department of Juvenile Justice Commissioner. The board serves as a group of advisers to the department of juvenile justice commissioner and members are nominated by Gov. Deal.

In a statement, Department of Juvenile Justice Spokesman Jim Shuler says Snow has more than 35 years of law enforcement experience and has graduated from the FBI National Academy, Georgia Law Enforcement Command College and Leadership Rome.
