ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Nathan Deal and state leaders say they are working to improve Georgia's talent pool in response to concerns from companies all over the state.
A new report released Wednesday lays out some of those options to improve workers' basic and more technical skills. State officials say they plan to push for more HOPE grants and new training programs for high-demand jobs.
Wednesday's recommendations are the result of 13 meetings with representatives of more than 80 companies, including Atlanta-area Home Depot and Delta.
Speakers at the meetings have said that it's difficult to find people with the right skills in Georgia for some high-demand jobs as older workers retire.
Department of Economic Development Chairman Chris Carr says the effort opened up communication between businesses and state education officials.
