VALDOSTA, Ga. -- A man awaiting sentencing for several theft-related charges has been re-arrested after more than $17,000 worth of stolen equipment was found on his property, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.
The man, Robert Kier, was arrested on a pair of warrants previously issued for his possession of stolen property.
Deputies say they were told that Kier was involved in the theft of a trailer stolen in Tift County. When investigators checked the property of Kier's family residence, located in south Lowndes County, they found the missing trailer -- a 24’ K&K Manufacturing flat bed goose neck valued at $8,500.
They also found another piece of equipment -- a 32’ Optima enclosed trailer valued at $9,000, That trailer was reported stolen in Nassau County, Florida.
Both pieces of equipment were returned to their owners.
Kier was arrested at a residence on Goodman Street in Quitman, Georgia, with the help of the Brooks County Sheriff's Office and the Quitman Police Department. The arrest took place on May 12, 2013.
Kier is charged with two counts or receiving stolen property, which are both felony charges. In addition to those charges, Kier is awaiting sentencing in the United States Court for a slew of charges related to the theft of 23 weapons and a boat.
