MCDONOUGH, Ga. (AP) — Federal labor officials have cited a metro Atlanta health care institute for failing to correct problems that surfaced during a 2012 inspection.
Officials with the Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration say Atlanta Health Careers Institute in McDonough failed to train workers in blood borne pathogen programs. The company was cited for the same violation in 2012.
Labor officials are asking the company to pay a $60,000 fine for failing to correct the violation.
Officials say the company also failed to offer Hepatitis B vaccines to workers who may have been exposed to potential blood born pathogen hazards. Labor officials are asking the company to pay $2,000 for that violation.
A call to a number listed for the company was not answered.
