VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of a Valdosta State Prison inmate on Wednesday as a suspected homicide.
According to GDC, Joshua Roman is believed to have died as a result of injuries he received during an argument with another inmate.
Roman was pronounced dead at the facility at 10 a.m. by the Lowndes County Coroner.
Roman was sentenced in 2012 in Lumpkin County for child molestation. He had a maximum release date of 2026.
Special agents with the Georgia Department of Corrections’ Office of Professional Standards are handling the investigation.
