TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - High School is a pivotal part of a teen's life. From a new campus, to harder classes, to making new friends. Those four years can truly mold a teen's path.

Middle school gives kids a chance to discover what they are truly passionate about, and help them decide which hobbies they want to continue in their high school years. For 8th grader Kaitlyn Herron, that's competitive cheer leading. As she prepares to head to Chiles High School in the fall, she says the one thing that won't be changing is her love of cheer.

Kaitlyn is apart of Tallahassee cheer nation athletics, a competitive cheer team known for recently being invited to the summit, an invite only competition reserved for the best of best. Many think of it as the Olympics of competitive cheer. Kaitlyn already has friends on her cheer team that attend Chiles High School, and she says it's nice to know that she'll see a familiar face on her first day, "I think its going to help me because then they can just show me around..."

Another major change Kaitlyn is also looking forward to is a new type of school transportation. That's because in just one year, she will have her learner's permit and she's already looking forward to the freedom that will bring, "I think it'll be really cool, because then I won't have to wait on a bunch of other people."

While Kaitlyn is both nervous and excited for this major transition, and she says she's already planning ahead for her first day, "I wanted to wear one of my really cute tank tops and some cute jean shorts that I got."
