TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Family and friends of Mason Rhinehart are planning two fundraisers for Saturday, August 16 to help the family. The six-year-old boy was stabbed to death on Tuesday, August 5 by his grandmother.
A memorial is planned from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Tekesta Park in Tallahassee. Children will make cards and paint pictures for the family. They will also write messages on balloons to send off in memory of Mason. If you would like to donate items like glue sticks, glitter, paper, stickers, markers, crayons, sharpies, paint or brushes, you can do so at Killearn Lakes HOA office at 7110 Beech Ridge Trail. Leftover items will be donated to Killearn Lakes Elementary School, where Mason was a student. Friends and family say the event is meant to be a form of art therapy for children.
In addition, Nuberri Frozen Yogurt is helping to raise money for Mason's family on August 16. Nuberri will contribute 25% of your pre-tax check to the family when you mention the fundraiser at the time of your purchase. You can visit any of their three Tallahassee locations- 101 N. Blair Stone Road in the Governors Crossing Shopping Center between Publix and Panera Bread, 1870 Thomasville Road next to Red Elephant and 2910 Kerry Forest Pkwy near Red Elephant.
