From Alan Shepard's first trip to space to the first moon landings, Ed Buckbee was the spokesman for the Wernher Von Braun, the man behind the Saturn V rocket.  During his time working NASA public affairs, Buckbee worked with the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts and their families.

Buckbee talked with us about how NASA learned to deal with the national spotlight on the astronauts and their families during the heydey of the American space program.  He also wrote the book "The Real Space Cowboys" with one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts, Wally Schirra.

In the interview, he talks everything from Alan Shepard golfing on the moon to Pete Conrad's son jumping off the roof of his house while Conrad was on the moon.
