A Missouri couple accused of kidnappings and armed robberies in Missouri, Alabama, Georgia and Florida was shot during a standoff in Milton, Florida Friday morning.
Blake Fitzgerald was killed in the shootout. Brittany Harper was wounded and taken to the hospital. Harper allegedly led police on a high speed chase before being taken in.
The couple is accused of kidnapping a hotel clerk in Tuscaloosa early Sunday morning, as well as a woman from her home in Vestavia Hills. Both victims were released.
U.S. Marshals spokesman Martin Keely says the couple is also suspected in two Florida robberies in Walnut Hills and Destin on Wednesday.
