Ft. Bragg soldiers hurt in explosion

FORT BRAGG, NC (RNN) - Soldiers who are part of the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Commandhave been hurt in a training accident on post on Thursday morning.

Officials told WTVD 15 soldiers were injured, and they've been taken to the Womack Army Medical Center.

The training exercise was taking place on a range at the Army base, officials told the Associated Press.

U.S. Army Special Command is investigating. 

Located in North Carolina, the military installation is the largest in the world by population with more than 50,000 active duty personnel. The 82nd Airborne Division is headquartered there, along with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. There are two airfields at Fort Bragg.

Fort Bragg is named for Braxton Bragg, North Carolina native who was Confederate General.
