TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State University has received a record number of students who applied for the second year in the row

But a four-year university is not the only path to a college degree.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams shared details Thursday about another option involving both FSU and Tallahassee Community College.

Just because those students aren't heading to FSU this fall, that doesn't mean they won't ever get the chance to become a 'Nole.

Florida State received nearly 57,000 first-year applications for admission to the 2019 summer and fall semesters.

Thursday is the last day to get applicantions in, but there's already been an 11.9 percent increase compared to last year.

Of course, that means that not every student gets to become a 'Nole immediately.

But thanks to the TCC 2 FSU program, those students still hoping to get an FSU degree get the chance to take FSU-approved classes and reap some FSU benfits while studying at TCC.

TCC is always accepting people into the program.

On Thursday, the similar program for students looking to eventually make it to FAMU's campus will be at TCC talking to interested students.
