TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) -- Florida State University's School of Theatre is selected as one of the top 10 colleges represented by alumni in current Broadway productions. That's according to Playbill's "Broadway's big 10."

18 FSU alums are are in, or will be in, shows on Broadway this season and FSU is one of only three public universities to make the list. The School of Theatre at FSU was founded in 1973. They say the success of their students is due to their long tradition of excellence.

"There is a long history of Florida State being a very large part of the entertainment industry and this is a continuation of it", said Cameron Jackson, Executive Director of the School of Theatre. "And with Playbill recognizing that, it's just a wonderful boost so that others can get to see that."

Notable alumni from the School of Theatre include Alan Ball, the writer of True Blood, and Emmy award-winner John Papsidera.

Side note: the school's performances this school year include The Twelfth Night and Legally Blonde.
