TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Documents reveal a red shirt freshman running back for FSU was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession back in November.

Khalan Laborn was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession of less than 20 grams on Nov. 19.

A probable cause document says that an FSU police officer spotted a car without headlights on driving east on West Gaines Street around 1:30 a.m. The officer then ran the registration of the car and found that the registration wasn't valid, so he initiated a traffic stop.

Documents say Laborn was driving the car at the time and while he was talking to the officer, a "distinct" odor of marijuana was coming from the car.

Due to the smell, the officer asked Laborn and the single passenger inside to get out of the car while the officer searched it. During the search, documents say the officer found a glass jar containing marijuana inside Laborn's backpack.

Laborn was arrested and given a notice to appear before being released from the scene. He's arraignment is set for Thursday, Jan. 10.

FSU sent the following statement to WTXL:

"We were aware of this situation and discipline has been handled internally."
