TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Autism Speaks is awarding more than $500,000  in grants to researchers around the nation, and a Florida State University graduate student will receive a portion of those funds.

Whitney Guthrie will receive money as part of a Weatherstone Predoctoral Fellowship. The program honors the legacy of financier Dennis Weatherstone, who supported education for young scientists that devoted their careers to autism research. Six other people were chosen for the Weatherstone Fellowship.

Guthrie will study how well a parent-implemented intervention for toddlers (18 to 36 months) improves function and quality of life for children at ages 5 to 7. For more information about this grant and Guthrie's research, click here.
