TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - A Florida State University and University of Alaska Fairbanks research team is credited with discovering a new species of dinosaur.
They found the skeletal remains of a Duckbiller, a 30 foot long Herbivore in Northern Alaska.
FSU Professor of Biological Science Greg Erickson and other researchers say, the dinosaur lived in darkness for months and probably experienced snow, making it a distinct species from dinosaurs elsewhere. The fossils were found in rock deposited 69 million years ago.
The dinosaur officialy is named Ugrunaaluk kuukpikensis, which means ancient grazer of the Colville River.
