TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Northwest Florida, along with the FSU Police Department, Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sherriff's Office, Florida Highway Patrol and Tallahassee Yellow Cab will hold a ribbon-tying ceremony to kick off a safe 2014 holiday season.
MADD is reminding Northwest Florida adults to plan ahead for a designated driver if they're planning to drink alcohol during holiday festivities. MADD's Annual Tie One On For Safety campaign, urges drivers to display a red ribbon on their cars as a reminder and in support of law enforcement crackdown efforts.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, during the time period between Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve in 2012, 1,091 people were killed in drunk driving crashes nationwide.
