Tallahassee, Fla. (WTXL) - Several Florida State University parents are concerned after test of the schools emergency alert system.
Thursday morning FSU officials activated all of the school's alert systems to make sure everything was working properly, including posting to social media sites that there was a threat on campus.
A number of parents commented believing the threat to be real.
School leaders say days leading up to the tests they sent out emails and even put on the schools Seminole Safe app that the drills would be taking place.
They encourage anyone with a connection to the university to download the app to make sure there's no confusion in the future:
"We tell people if you get a message or hear about something going on campus go the app and you will see that we'll be updating it, and we actually had an update on there that there was going to be a test and also our twitter feed was coming through that as well," said Major Jim Russell with the FSU Police Department.
The Seminole Safe app is available for download for both iOS and Android devices. To find out more about the app, click here.
