TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida State University is making some changes on campus, hoping to make it easier for students, faculty and staff to choose healthier living.

The effort was announced after a three year commitment with a Partnership For a Healthier America (PHA) was made. With the commitment, FSU will adopt PHA'S guidelines about food, nutrition, physical activity and programming.

FSU says they plan to make it easier for people on campus to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.

"We have a new rec sportsplex that's just a few miles away so we have students come out there we offer outdoor trips so, for people that are not as comfortable in the fitness facilities, and they want to work on their physical activity outdoors. Then they can go climbing as the Res, they can do paddle board yoga at the Res, they can rent a kayak," says April Moore, the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.

And the other big change will take place at the university's dining halls.

Lauren Marucci, Nutrition Educator in Health Promotion explains, "They do offer a home style section which usually consists of a protein a vegetable and a starch. And those options are usually pretty healthy, also the salad bar is good. So we'll recommend that if you do want a slice of pizza, you can balance it out with a nice salad with extra veggies on the side."

This isn't the only initiative FSU has to promote healthy on campus either. In 2013, Seminole dining launched its "Healthy for Life" program, which brings attention to nutritional content of food.

They also launched the Campus Dish app, which allows students to see locations, menus and nutritional information.
