TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State University is teaming up with a Jacksonville organization to create more ways for students there to go to FSU.

President John Thrasher signed an agreement with the executive director of KIPP, which stands for Knowledge is Power Program. It's a network of public charter schools.

KIPP Jacksonville educates more than a thousand students in Duval County, mentoring them from kindergarten until they are college ready.

Thrasher said the partnership is a "win-win" situation.

"KIPP is preparing these students with knowledge and skills and with caring for success in college and life," said Thrasher. "The signing of this agreement will provide structure and a pathway to help KIPP students enroll in FSU."

The partnership will also help FSU's CARE program recruit more students from the Jacksonville area.
