TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Reddit user has discovered that technically Florida State University shouldn't be bowl eligible.
One of FSU's wins came over FCS Delaware State, and per the NCAA, wins over FCS programs only count if the school was awarded at least 90 percent of the FCS scholarship limit. Del state was awarded 87 percent.
FSU told WTXL the school has no statement at this time.
WTXL was told by the Independence Bowl that "It's a matter between the NCAA, Florida State and Delaware State.
So it's game on for the 'Noles, who are continuing their bowl preparation under interim head coach Odell Haggins.
Haggins is liking their practice this week. He says the guys are focused.
"We have a long bowl history at Florida State," he said. "The kids knew it about a month and a half ago they wanted to keep the streak going. We made it to a bowl, they played hard, they practiced hard. They're listening and they expect to go out there and expect to do what we do the Florida State way."
