TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - More than 300 people from Florida State University and the community learned more about each other over a special meal in an effort to build bridges on campus.
The event Tuesday was the fourth Longest Table event FSU has hosted and the first one on Langford Green.
Students and other Tallahassee residents were treated to a large-scale family dinner and discussed social issues after the meal.
Chef Art Smith was the event's guest speaker. The FSU grad said The Longest Table celebrates the diversity on campus and encourages students to be global citizens.
"I believe that it's a way to engage students - engage international students - on a campus together, along with students who grew up in this region to understand their world better - through food," Smith said. "When you share food -- one of the greatest things you can do is share your food, and it's the best way that we can learn to know each other."
The event was organized by the Power of WE and The Village Square.
