TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For the fourth consecutive year, Florida State earned the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.

It's in recognition of their continuous efforts towards diversity and inclusion.

The plan to unite the university through it's diverse mix of students and faculty began in 2007 with a vision of creating a workplace of choice.

A new initiative the Diversity and Inclusion Council is launching is called the Power of We.

It's a completely student-driven campaign dedicated to encouraging diversity on Florida State's campus.

"I think it's representative of the great work we're doing in the area of diversity and inclusion. We're so excited to be recognized for the fourth year in a row. I think it tells us that we're headed in the right direction. Although we know there's lots of work to do in this area, but we're so committed so it's so great to see our faculty, staff and students recognized for the great work they do in this area," says Renisha Gibbs, the Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President of Florida State University.

Gibbs says high expectations are the key and the bar is set even higher now in the area of inclusion and diversity on campus.
