TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- From Mar. 22-24, Florida State University students stayed on their feet for a cause. The students raised a grand total of $701,493.16 for Children's Miracle Network at Shands Hospital at the 2013 FSU Dance Marathon.
Students kept moving for 40 hours total split into two 20 hour shifts. Over 1700 students, 1,000 volunteers and 3,000 visitors attended the event. Dancers included students, faculty, alumni, athletes and community members.
Dance Marathon at FSU is the largest student-run philanthropy at the university. This year was the organization's 18th anniversary. Since it was started in 1996, it has raised more than $3.9 million for Children's Miracle Network at Shands Hospital and The FSU College of Medicine's pediatric outreach programs.
In 2012, over $585,000 was raised.
