TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Florida State University did not cancel classes Monday in the wake of Tropical Storm Colin.

FSU's Emergency Management says the threat of severe weather is taken seriously, but since Colin wasn't heading directly toward the university, the campus remained fully operational.

Director Dave Bujak says his team has been watching this storm system for the past few days. His team advises university officials on whether or not to delay, postpone or cancel classes and events, but after reviewing Colin's activity Wednesday morning, the call was to keep things running as usual.

"We expect the effects of the storm to be very isolated and scattered, and that's not something that we can necessarily hunker down or prepare for," Bujak said. "So, we're continuing all our activities and orientation, our classes at normal, but we are here watching the storm very intently and are prepared to react, if necessary."

The university did make a slight change due to Colin at its coastal marine lab in Franklin County.

The lab relocated its boat in the basin to secure it and prevent damage, as the waters were forcing it to ram against the docks.
